Hawaiian Weddings and Red Soil - How to Remove Red Soil On Wedding Attire

Hawaiian weddings that take place outdoors, but off the beach, must take Hawaiian soil into consideration. Hawaii's rich red soils look stunning in landscape photographs, but consider the fact that there's a line of Hawaiian T-shirts that are dyed by exposing them to the islands' red dirt.

Ask your Hawaii wedding planner how to take precautions to protect any apparel that is close to the ground, like the hems of light pants or the train of a wedding gown. You could 'lift as you walk', simply holding long clothing off the ground (although that can be awkward for a bride who's got a bouquet to hold as well). If you choose to lift, wearing leg and ankle jewelry or wearing stockings with a beautiful design can add a touch of elegance and visual interest.

Some wedding dress designs lend themselves to temporarily pinning or tying up a train, which can be released once you're at the altar or posing for formal wedding photographs. If you're willing to dress more casually, choose a shorter wedding dress or one without a train for your outdoor Hawaiian wedding.

There are fabric sprays, normally used for furniture or rugs, that may help prevent stains (or make stains easier to remove if staining does occur), but test the spray on a swatch of the fabric used to make your dress before you spray your dress directly. And consult a dry cleaner who specializes in preserving wedding dresses, too, before spraying any product on your dress.

Alternatively, you can cover the area where you'll walk during your Hawaii wedding with a protective covering (beach mats, cloth runners, large leaves, etc.). For a touch of elegance, a special cloth can be spread on the spot where the wedding couple and the wedding celebrant/minister stand. Here's where your imagination can expand the possibilities: don't be limited by the traditional white if you'd rather have something more colorful (perhaps a ground cloth cover that matches the color of your flowers?). Consider buying an altar ground cover (elegant tablecloths or small luxury sheets are possibilities) and having it monogrammed before your Hawaii wedding.

Hawaiian breezes can pick up in an instant, though, so secure any ground covers with something picturesque, such as heavy shells or the beautiful black lava rocks of Hawaii.
