Will the bakery deliver your Hawaii wedding cake
or do they expect you or a Hawaii
wedding coordinator to arrange for pickup? You'll
pay extra for the delivery service, of course, but,
with the occasional traffic jam in Hawaii, having
the cake delivered to your Hawaii wedding location
can be one less thing to worry about on a day when
you'll have plenty to do. And bakery trucks are specifically
equipped to transport tall, fragile wedding cakes,
so, unless you have special expertise in this area,
it pays to let the experts handle the delivery. Arrange
to have the bakery call you (make sure they have your
cellphone number if you're not using a Hawaii wedding
coordinator as a contact) as soon as the delivery
person is leaving the bakery, so that you have the
reassurance that the cake is on its way and some idea
of when the cake will arrive.
To avoid the ultimate wedding cake nightmare if
someone in the wedding party is responsible for picking
up the cake, be SURE you know what the bakery's hours
are for each day of the week. If the bakery closes
in early or mid-afternoon, the designated pick-up
person could be in for a shock if they arrive to pick
up a cake and the business is closed until the following
day. Remember, this is the laid-back land of Hawaii
and some people want to be on the beach, too, even
if they're not getting married on a beach in Hawaii
like you.
Ask about what forms of payment the bakery accepts.
If they accept credit cards, you could be building
airmiles for a honeymoon while paying for your wedding.
If the bakery doesn't accept credit cards, they might
not accept out-of-state checks, either, so make sure
you find out what forms of payment they DO accept
and have adequate cash or travelers cheques to pay
for your cake, if necessary. On the other hand, if
you've been working with a Hawaii wedding planner
all along, these details will have been taken care
of... and you'll be standing on the sand, radiant
and excited, looking across at your sweetheart, as
your Hawaii
beach wedding begins.
